Dana Micklos is the founder of Arizona Destination Management, a full-service destination wedding company that helps couples celebrate among the red rocks, pines, and canyons of Arizona.

Growing up with two entrepreneurial parents, Dana learned early that hard work and independence were the roots of success. 

She worked in the family flower shop growing up, but it was the burgeoning world of IT that initially catapulted her career. She built a reputation as a powerhouse in the IT industry. In 2008, when the Great Recession caused a ripple effect through the tech sector, she lost her job at a San Francisco tech company. She was also going through another life shift, planning to get married and start a family in Northern Arizona. 

She moved to Flagstaff to plan her wedding, realizing there was an untapped niche in wedding planning. Rather than settle, she created one. What started as a small floral business grew into something much larger.

“What struck me about Northern Arizona is the beautiful landscapes. From the Grand Canyon scenery to the forests around Flagstaff to the red rocks of Sedona, this was a place that made you fall in love all over again. I wanted to create an industry around this, while helping couples find the perfect place to get married,” Micklos said. 

While she single-handedly planned her own wedding, she started to lay the groundwork of what would become Arizona Destination Management. Her floral company grew into larger, full-scale wedding package planning services. 

“We serve specific locations and customize the packages for each location. The Grand Canyon, being a national park, has different requirements and logistics than a Sedona or forest event. While we do a lot of weddings, we also have corporate clients and host major events throughout this in-demand region,” Micklos added.
